Project demonstrates how to make a professional-looking drapery cornice with Styrofoam-brand plastic foam and fabric.
Materials:
- Marker
- Styrofoam-brand plastic foam
- scissors or foam cutters
- steak knife
- fabric
- fabric scissors
- quilt batting
- trim
- wood glue
- wood picks or skewers
Steps:
1. Mark off the front and the sides to fit the window and cut out Styrofoam-brand plastic foam.
2. Use a steak knife to score the foam, then break it on the edge of the table.
3. Sand off the edges by rubbing the foam pieces together.
4. Use fabric scissors to cut fabric about 1/2 inch bigger than the front piece of foam.
5. Score the line on the front piece about an inch from edge.
6. Place quilt batting on the front side, then wrap the fabric around the batting and the foam.
7. Apply low-melt glue into the crevice and stuff the edges of the fabric into the crevice made where you scored foam.
8. Apply trim to the edge where the fabric has been stuffed.
9. Wrap other pieces and apply wood glue to adhere.
10. Use wooden picks or skewers to run through the corner where the two pieces meet to hold them together and provide extra support where they are glued.
