What makes a medallion easier or harder to install?
Several factors including:
- Material -Our polyurethane medallions are much more easily installed than plaster medallions. Urethane is easily drilled, screwed or nailed without risk of splitting or cracking. Also, polyurethane medallions are lighter than their plaster counterparts.
- Coring - Ceilings are never perfectly flat and therefore a medallion with a solid back will seat with an obvious gap. Most of the Arctel medallions are engineered to have a “cored” or slightly hollowed out back that allows them to be installed without objectionable gaps.
- Hole Size Choices – Each installation is unique and it is generally preferable to have a choice of hole sizes in the medallion you buy. A larger ceiling medallion is much easier to install with a 4″ center hole. On the other hand, you may choose to eliminate the canopy supplied with your lighting fixture and use our ceiling medallion with a 1″ center hole.
